The Confidence Blueprint: How to apply without feeling like an Impostor
Secretly feel like you're not good enough? Read on...
Have you ever thought:
I’m not good enough.
Other people have done way more than me.
Why would they pick me?!
You’re not alone — literally everyone I coach says these things at some point. But self-doubt doesn’t get a seat at the application table. Let’s kick it out with a plan.
1. Rewrite what you say about yourself.
Open a document or note and write down :
3 moments you were proud of yourself (in or outside vet med)
3 tough things you got through
3 compliments you’ve gotten from a boss, professor, or mentor
3 times you felt helpful or truly excited in your vet clinic
Not only are you going to look back at these when you doubt yourself, but you’ll use these… as examples, in your essays!!!
2. The Comparison Detox
You see the TikTok girl with 4.0 GPA + zoo hours + a wildlife internship in Costa Rica.
Here’s the truth: You don’t know her full story. And your path doesn’t have to look like hers to be valid — or competitive.
Do this: Unfollow (or mute) 3 accounts that spike your anxiety. Follow 3 vets or pre-vets who share honestly — struggles, rejections, growth. You’ll feel 10x lighter.
3. Remember the Reader
Admissions isn’t looking for perfection — they’re looking for real people who will be great vets.
That means showing:
Growth over time
Resilience
Clear motivation
Tip: In your personal statement, highlight a moment that shaped you (even if it was messy!) Show how you responded and what it taught you.
Bonus: Listen to my interview with Brenna, my expert editor!
4. Turn Rejection Fear into Action
Fear of “not getting in” = feeling powerless. But taking clear steps puts you back in control.
Create a checklist of what you can control:
Finalizing your vet school list
Booking your experience hours
Writing a killer personal statement
Getting feedback early, and submit early!
Prepping for interviews
