Social Media is a funny thing. I believe people come into your life for a reason- big or small! I found Phezulu Pre-Vet! It is located in Cathcart, South Africa.
Phezulu is run by a husband and wife, Trevor and Cupie!! They are as incredibly nice and sweet as they look.

Phezulu Pre-vet is a small operation. It’s not a huge corporation like LoopAbroad, which is cool too! Here, you become a member of their family for either 2 or 3 weeks. You spend half the time on their commercial livestock farm and half your time visiting a game reserve, Pumba Private Game reserve working with their vet. Here is an itinerary.
During your time on the farm, their pre-vet students truly get hands-on experience with their livestock vet, and here are some things you do:
learning the prevention and management of African diseases and husbandry
working with sheep! This includes medicating, tailing, castrating and ear notching both lamb and momma!
handling bulls! Injecting, and dosing for parasites and vitamins
During your time on the all inclusive African Safari, you will do things like:
learning and utilizing chemical immobilization of the wildlife
working with Dr. Luis Amara at Amatola Wildlife Services, to evaluate and treat sedated wildlife for parasites, wounds, disease
help to relocate animals to treat them for longer periods of time, raise their young, continue to be evaluated, and more
I’ll leave more photos here, because they truly describe this place more than words, but the best part is the easy communication and sense of family of Trevor and Cupie.
